Earlier this week a limited editionCyberpunk 2077-themedNvidia RTX 2080 Ti graphics cardwas revealed on Twitter, with only 77 being produced and circulated through special giveaways. Turns out the partnership between CD Projekt Red’s upcoming game and the technology developer goes even deeper than that, as it was announcedCyberpunkwill be available on Nvidia’s cloud streaming service GeForce NOW at launch.

Players who buyCyberpunk 2077on Steam will be able to stream the game “fully optimized” through GeForce NOW on PC and Mac in September, according to a Wednesday post on Nvidia’s website. However it only mentions Steam, which has left many people asking whether there will also be support forCyberpunk 2077through the GOG.com digital distribution platform in the post’s comments and in replies to the announcement on Twitter.

The game is a pretty big grab for Nvidia, as the company only just releasedits cloud streaming service GeForce NOWfrom beta earlier this month. CD Projekt Red also announced thatCyberpunk 2077would be available on Google Stadia, another cloud-based gaming platform, last August.

After the developers announcedCyberpunk 2077’s delay for more optimization timein January, many fans were sympathetic and even encouraging about the extra wait time. It has been widely reported that the open-world role-playing game will be very graphically and mechanically intensive, so it will undoubtedly come out better with more time in the oven.

However, CD Projekt Red has also received backlash forperpetuating a harmful cycle of development crunchwith its employees as a result of the delay. Yet hype for the game continues to build as its marketing machine churns, giving fans access to limited edition graphics cards, Funko Pop vinyl figurines, and more.

Supposedly the world has not seen the full extent ofCyberpunk 2077’s graphical capabilitiesaccording to CD Projekt Red’s Head John Mamais. That enticing nugget of information has made the company’s commitment to Nvidia’s tech as the seemingly best option to reach that level of performance more interesting, so it should be fun to see how the game runs with GeForce NOW in September.

Cyberpunk 2077is set to release on September 17th, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
