Weapons such as the MP-40 and STG44 are level one unlocks inCall of Duty: Vanguard, and as such have been widespread since launch. However, another returning gun in the M1928 has also been a popular choice amongVanguardplayers. The M1928 is one of the more unique options inCall of Duty: Vanguard, but also offers one of the stronger options in the game.

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s M1928
Many of the weapons inCall of Duty: Vanguardmay be familiar to long timeCall of Dutyplayers, but few are as iconic asCall of Duty: Vanguard’sM1928. The name may not initially ring a bell, as the M1928 is often referred to as the Thompson submachine gun. The “Tommy Gun” is iconic not just for the role it played in World War 2, but for its appearance in Mafia-related media, including theMafiavideo game series. However, the M1928 isn’t just receiving attention for its appearances in popular media, as it offers a couple of unique attributes that make it a useful weapon to have.
One of the more noticeable features of the M1928 is its Drum magazine, which offers the player the highest base ammo capacity of an SMG inVanguard. The M1928’s 50 round mag can prove useful to players, as its high rate of fire could sometimes leave the player struggling for accuracy. The player needs all the bullets they can get with the M1928, but the Drum mag in combination with the guns high rate of fire makes it one of thebest weapons inCall of Duty: Vanguard. Ammo can be hard to come by inVanguardat times, but the M1928 allows players to load into matches with 168 rounds of ammunition, much more than the 98 offered byCall of Duty: Vanguard’sMP-40.
Best Gunsmith Attachments for the M1928 in Call of Duty: Vanguard
The M1928 has a lot going for it, but despite this, there are a handful of areas in which it could improve to truly compete withCall of Duty: Vanguard’sMP-40or STG44, which have proven popular thus far. Fortunately, by checking intoCall of Duty: Vanguard’sGunsmith, players can massively improve upon weapons base attributes, albeit with potential stat decreases in other areas. Players could strive to make the M1928 a more well-rounded gun, but this may not be the way to get the best out of the gun. Instead, players should possibly look to lean into the more unbalanced side of the M1928, building upon its existing strengths.
The M1928’s base attributes point to a gun that’s useful in close-range gunfights, but less so in mid-long range. WithCall of Duty: Vanguard’sgunsmith, the weapon can be made even stronger in close range gunfights with a handful of attachments. The Recoil Booster is one such attachment, which offers an increase of two in fire rate but with a reduction of one in accuracy. The M1915 Steady can also improve the M1928 close range with improved hip-fire accuracy, and the Pine Tar Grip offers further improvements to hip-fire accuracy as well as recoil control.
Unfortunately, the M1928 doesn’t have a favorite operator, so none will offer an XP bonus while the weapon is equipped. Attachments alone, however, should help to make the M1928 one of the best weapons in the game.
