CD Projekt Red is developing the first expansion pack forCyberpunk 2077. After a rocky launch that failed to live up to the lofty expectations of the gaming world at large, the developers have managed tofix many ofCyberpunk 2077’s shortcomings, and in its current state represents a fun, open-world role-playing shooter with a gripping story set in a dystopian future.
Though CD Projekt Red has announced a newWitchergame was being developed on Unreal Engine 5, the developers still have plenty in store for Night City (and potentially beyond). Roughly a month ago, an expansion pack forCyberpunk 2077was confirmed to still be in the works, with an official release slated for 2023.

Given the number of resources and manpower needed for creating a newWitchergame and due to an error made on a chart in CD Projekt Red’s financial report, fans wrongfully assumed that the team working onCyberpunk 2077’sexpansion pack was a small skeleton crew. According to the developer on Twitter, half of the studio is still focused on creating the expansion forCyberpunk 2077, and fans can rest easy that the development ofCyberpunk 2077is far from over.
Until it arrives, players are left with a completed base version of the game, asCyberpunk 2077’s1.5 patchhas made significant strides in undoing the disastrous reputation ofCyberpunk 2077’spremiere while adding some interesting new content on its own, such as allowing players to customize their character at any point in the game, as well as a way to own all sorts of apartments spread across Night City.
Cyberpunk 2077’sexpansionis a golden opportunity for CD Projekt Red to introduce the game to a new audience, many among them being skeptics who avoided its controversial launch. As for what the setting of the expansion is going to be, there have been rumors that it would take place in Pacifica in an area called the Combat Zone – with players caught in the middle of a vicious gang war.
It is advised to take these rumors with a grain of salt, however, as the developer reached out to Forbes to claim that the leaks do not add up entirely. On the other hand, considering that the leaks were made prior to the launch ofCyberpunk 2077’s1.5 patch, and given that it got a few predictions right, it would seem that there may be some truth to it after all.
Cyberpunk 2077is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
