Remakes continue to be divisive between fans who believe the original game is untouchable and fans who believe the original game could be improved upon. Capcom’sResident Evilremakes have seen both sides of that argument, and whiletheResident Evil 4remake honors its source materialas a faithful reimagining, the previousResident Evilremake had failed to do the same. Still, the clear improvements and elaborations made inResident Evil 4’sremake will hopefully be enough to convince FromSoftware to take the same course of action forBloodborne.
Bloodborneis an incredibly popular FromSoftware action-RPG, with its standout features being its distinct setting and tone. Following threeDark Soulsgames, it was great to see such a refreshing change of pace in terms of FromSoftware’s macabre storytelling inBloodborne, supported by its addition of trick weapons and firearms for stunning and parrying enemies. Players have only ever wanteda port ofBloodborneonto PC or PS5in order for it to run and look better, but a full-blown remake with new features would be a great way to reprise it.

Capcom’s Resident Evil Franchise Reinforces Why Remakes Are Popular
Resident Evil’s remakes are beginning to learn that to appease fans, all they need to do is faithfully adapt the games they are inspired by.Resident Evil 3’s remakelearned this lesson the hard way after a lot of the original content was scrapped. Fans can likely expect that aResident Evil 5remake would be as faithful to the original game asResident Evil 4’s remake is.
Of course, theResident Evil 4remake does make a fair number of changes in its modern reimagining, but none of these changes take away from the atmosphere or nostalgia of the original.Resident Evil 4’s U-3 boss fight was divisive already, for example, and not many fans seem to have missed it in the remake. Likewise, the parry mechanic and shooting range charm perks are wonderful changes that have added a lot to the game; so is the thought Capcom has put intoResident Evil 4’s inventory management, with even more items to store and organize.
FromSoftware Should Take Inspiration from Capcom Regarding Bloodborne
Learning from the mistakes of Capcom’s remakes, FromSoftware would have a lot of support from fans if it ever announced anything new aboutBloodborne. FromSoftware would not even need to handle the remake itself, perhaps instead electing tohave Bluepoint Games tackle aBloodborneremakelike it did forDemon’s Souls.Demon’s Soulswas a landmark title for the PS5 and to this day looks remarkable; many fans are eager to see that level of fidelity on a FromSoftware game again.
Bloodbornehaving its own remake would offer an obvious upscaling in resolution and frame rate, hopefully with included accessibility options, but it could also implement quality-of-life features thatBloodbornedoes not already have.Bloodbornewould not necessarily need entire mechanics to be added on top of the ones it already has. Borrowing from some of FromSoftware’s other action-RPGs could make it a fully modern title that was worth the wait after its original release back in 2015.
Otherwise, a simple remaster or remake could be the perfect foundation for a potentialBloodborne 2to garner as much excitement as possible. FromSoftware could decide that developing aBloodborne 2on its own would be more advantageous and a better use of its time if it is planning to develop moreArmored Coregames and a follow-up toElden Ring. That is why its collaboration with Bluepoint is hopefully not over.
