Call of Duty: Vanguardwas one of the best-selling games in the month that it released, although, this is most likely owing to the fact that it is aCall of Dutygame. WhileCall of Duty: Vanguardsold well, many fans of the series were not happy with the game and now some new figures from Twitch have provided evidence of this.
On January 5 only around 2,900 people were tuned in to streamers playingCall of Duty: Vanguard, which is rather concerning. This figure may not reflect the number of people playing the game, however, it can easily give some indication as to whether or not the community is interested in the title. To put this into perspective, on January 5Call of Duty: Warzonehad around 47,000 viewers. This shows that while the community may not be interested inVanguard, they are still interested in theCall of Dutybrand as a whole.

The lack of interest from the community can likely be attributed to a variety of different reasons. Some players merely prefer the previous game in the series,Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Many players requested new updates to the Zombies game mode ofCold Warinstead ofCall of Duty: Vanguardas they simply prefer the mode in the older game. This is possibly the result of theCall of Dutyseries' short life cycle as many fans may feel that they have to wave goodbye to previousCall of Dutygames before they are ready to do so in order to follow the rest of the player base.
It can often take a significant amount of time to get the balancing in a multiplayer game right. ManyCall of Duty: Vanguardplayers have had many complaints about the game’s balancingso far with the biggest culprits being the game’s shotguns and killstreaks. Sledgehammer Games has, thankfully, patched many of these issues since then but one can only assume that a yearly release cycle does not help this problem.
Call of Duty: Vanguardis by no means a bad game and the reason for the lack of interest in the title is more than likely due toCall of Dutyfatigue. It seems as thoughCall of Dutygames would benefit from not releasing on a yearly basis. This gives the developer more time to work on the game and can potentially be more profitable in the long run if the sales of cosmetic items are factored in.
Call of Duty: Vanguardis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
