An interesting Easter egg was recently discovered inCall of Duty: Modern Warfareconnecting the popular online shooter to the now disusedTony Hawk Pro Skaterfranchise. An Easter egg that, with an understanding of theTony Hawkfranchise’s history and its relationship toCall of Duty, carries with it quite a bit of nostalgia. The Easter egg was apparently found on an “out of place looking dead body” duringModern Warfare’s campaign, showing the logo ofTony Hawk Pro Skaterdeveloper Neversoft’s logo as a tattoo.
Reddit user GerardB99 posted a screenshot of the tattoo as they found it. The title of the post reads “Neversoft Easter Egg found on out of place looking dead body in the Piccadilly Circus mission,” which should be just enough information forCall of Duty: Modern Warfareplayers to start searching for the Easter Egg themselves. The photo GerardB99 posted shows the tattoo on the dead NPC’s arm, the speared Neversoft eyeball splashed with a some of the NPC’s blood.

The Easter egg may prompt a nostalgic response not just because theTony Hawk Pro Skaterfranchise is now defunct, but also because Neversoft itself has closed. Through its nearly 20-year existence, Neversoft worked on 11 differentTony Hawkprojects before shifting gears and working on 7 differentGuitar Heroprojects. Its final work was done on2013’sCall of Duty: Ghosts, as the team was shifted to support otherCall of Dutystudios with their games.
The dagger, however, is thatNeversoft was never closedand its remaining employees were moved toModern Warfaredeveloper Infinity Ward. This Neversoft Easter egg inCall of Duty: Modern Warfaremay very well have been made by a legacy employee who worked at Neversoft. Ex-Neversoft or otherwise, whoever worked on the Easter Egg is making sure that Neversoft’s work carries on, one speared eyeball at a time.
While Neversoft is gone, Infinity Ward carries on. Maybe if enoughCall of Duty: Modern Warfareplayers ask Infinity Ward to take a break fromCall of Dutyand make aTony Hawk’s Pro Skatergame, they can prove there’s still a demand. For the time being, however, the dream will have to live on solely in the form of a tattoo on a dead NPC in the Piccadilly Circus mission ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
