Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2fans have been making plenty of requests since the game was revealed, and unsurprisingly, legacy content is high on the list. Players have been sharing their hopes forclassic weapons from the originalMW2to appear, with demands for modes and maps also being made. However, there is one particular map that deserves to make a comeback: Estate.
When players think of 2009’sCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, there are likely several maps that come to mind before Estate. Locations like Rust, Terminal, and Highrise are more iconic, with players having fond memories on all of these maps. Still, with Highrise all but confirmed for the newModern Warfare 2, and Terminal and Rust both being remade in other games, it would be great to see more fresh remakes going forward. Beyond Estate being a new candidate for a remaster, there are a few other reasons why it would be good to see again.

Estate is a Perfect Fit For Modern Warfare 2’s Game Modes
While theoriginalModern Warfare 2’s Estate mapwas a stellar private match location, it was not a perfect play space for regular multiplayer. An odd layout centered around one building meant that it had some strange spawns and a weird flow, and while these flaws could be rectified through some adjustments to the 6v6 map, it would shine far more in two specific game modes.
The first mode where Estate would make sense isGunfight, as players could fight inside the main building. Having access to all the rooms could make for an intriguing 2v2 arena, as players could spawn randomly on the top floor, middle floor, or basement. This would instantly make for an intense arena where close quarters combat reigns supreme, as enemies could be lurking around every corner. The concept of a Gunfight map taking place in one large house is an interesting one, and it would be a nice change of pace from the Gunfight maps released thus far.
It is also worth mentioning the leakedAttackers vs. Defenders mode, which may or may not be happening. Supposedly playing likeRainbow Six Siege, this mode would see players fighting around one area, picking roles, and making use of a revive system. Environments would also be able to be fortified according to the leak, though withModern Warfare 2multiplayer not featuring destruction, this idea could have been scrapped and theSiegevibes may be a bit less apparent. Still, if Infinity Ward needs a map that plays likeSiege, Estate is a viable option. Attackers can spawn outside the house, with Defenders needing to hold down the iconic building.
Giving Estate a Presence in The Campaign
Though Estate featuring inModern Warfare 2’s multiplayer modeswould be exciting, and the map’s mountain setting ensures it would be visually impressive, it could also make an appearance in the campaign. For many, the Russian location is memorable not because it appeared in multiplayer playlists, but because it served as Ghost’s place of death in the oldModern Warfaretrilogy.
WithGhost set to have a big role in the newModern Warfare 2’s campaign, bringing back this location could be interesting. If players saw it during the singleplayer mode, their hearts would instantly sink, as they would be afraid about history repeating itself. However, this time around General Shepherd could not betray Ghost, or Ghost could recognize the betrayal and stop it before it takes place. Bringing back Estate during the story only to subvert expectations could be a fun twist, allowing Infinity Ward to make a neat callback while telling a new story. With the map able to fit easily into both multiplayer and singleplayer, it should absolutely make a comeback later this year.
