Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies has been dealing with a few issues as of late, though one returning bug is particularly bad. Seen shortly after launch,Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warplayers are unfortunately being plagued by the mode’s exfil bug once again.

When it works,Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s exfil systemsees Zombies fans having a proper way to end their matches. Rather than just dying like in the older entries, gamers can now call in a helicopter to exit from a map and “win” inside Zombies. If they do so successfully, they will get some rewards, with a few dozen enemies standing between the player and salvation. Gamers must kill their AI foes within a certain time limit, which is where the troublesome bug occurs.

Captured by Redditor fireddoggaming21, all the Zombies are eliminated long before the timer ticks down. However, theCall of DutyZombies fanis unable to leave the area, with the bug seeing the counter stay above zero. Despite all the hostiles in the surrounding area clearly being dead, the game still believes that there are two Zombies left to kill. While the player initially seems to be confused as to how this bug is still around, other Redditors in the comments seem to know why the problem occurs.

The bug in question is tied to the combination ofthe Chopper Gunner scorestreakand Megaton mini boss. As pointed out by Reddit user rebillihp, the use of the scorestreak interrupts the scripted behavior of the Megaton. Normally, once a Megaton’s health bar is drained, the larger enemy splits into two smaller foes. However, the Chopper Gunner’s minigun does too much damage to the splitting Megaton, instantly killing the irradiated monster before it has a chance to split. As a result, this quick kill is confusing the game, as the counter is prepared for the two Megatons to spawn.

With this bug having been fixed once before, hopefully Treyarch is able to make a fix quickly. Until then, Redditor Shorch99 recommends using a Cluster Strike instead of a Chopper Gunner to clear out the exfil horde. It is also worth noting that the issue is tied specifically to Megatons, so using the Chopper Gunner during Firebase Z exfils should cause no issues at all. Fans ofthe open world Outbreak modeshould be careful, though, as Megatons can spawn during those exfils as well.

With recent XP-related issues in Zombies as well asthe Hellhound texture bug, it seems like the next patch has some problems to address. However, with this glitch having a major effect on Die Maschine games, hopefully it will be prioritized on the list of problems.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
