Summary

The Worst Generation is a group of pirates inOne Piecewho the World Government sees as the biggest threat to the status quo. While they are all most well-known for their unique powers and personal abilities, another reason the Worst Generation stands out so much is due to their designs, which reflect their personalities in one way or another.

Oda has always excelled at creatingvibrant and colorful characterswho are instantly recognizable for the way they look, but it’s clear that when it comes tothe Worst Generation, he went above and beyond on a few of them in the visuals department. It should be noted that post-timeskip designs will be taken into consideration as they tend to be a little more expressive and most likely what Oda was going for in the first place.

Killer Racing Out his Blades

12Killer

Killer’s Mask & Blades Give Him A Menacing Look

Killer does admittedly have a pretty menacing look to him, especially with the mask that covers his entire face, which was only removed fairly recently in the story, and the spinning blades hanging off his arms are also a standout feature. Unfortunately, there isn’t much else to say about Killer’s design, especially since he almost always wears pretty basic shirts and pants too.

There is at least his long-flowing gold hair which, for a time, had people theorizing that he was related to Sanji before fans got to seethe Strawhat’s backstory, but this unfortunately never became a reality.

Basill Hawkins

The Long Flowing Hair & Marks On His Face Are Intriguing

Considering just how unique of a characterBasil Hawkinsis, especially with his ability to predict the future with his tarot cards, he could have had just a few more additions to his design that could reflect his almost mystical nature. He does have three black triangle symbols just above his eyes and a cross at his throat, but some extra markings really would have helped feed into the image of a man who knows a lot more than he’s letting on.

Still, Hawkins ruffled shirts and long hair, which stretches down to his hips, does still give him a very recognizable style, but it does feel like he’s one of those characters that Oda could have gone even further with in terms of appearance if he wanted to.

Jewelry Bonney With a brown fur coat and a green hat

10Jewelry Bonney

Has A Style That’s Recognizable & Fashionable

Bonney was left absent from the story for an extremely long amount of time before she was gradually brought into the wider plot fromthe Reverie Arconwards, so fans have gotten to see a little bit more of her since then. She has quite a stylish look and can usually be seen rocking a brown fur jacket with a green cap covering her long pink hair.

The tiny lipstick marks above and below her mouth also form the shape of a love heart, which is a nice added touch. She received an upgrade from her pre-timeskip look, which was quite bland overall, but Bonney still doesn’t have the most captivating design, at least compared to the other Worst Generation members.

X-Drake with Caribbou behind him

9X Drake

His Sleek Coat & X Markings Give The Impression Of A Grizzled Warrior

WhileDrake’s true motives are actually revealed later in the story, when fans only knew him as a pirate, he stood out from the rest due to his more formal dress attire. The long trench coat paired with two hilted swords and the large X across his chest all give him an extremely menacing appearance, but it was also a perfect move from Oda to create a “pirate” character who looks like more of a soldier as a way of foreshadowing future events.

Drake’s design is very recognizable, especially due to the X symbols on his chest and chin, but he doesn’t quite have any features that push him over the edge in terms of how he looks. Still, there’s no mistaking just how cool his full Allosaurus form looks on the rare occasions fans get to see it.

Zoro

The Scars Across His Body & Face Make Him Stand Out

As the series goes on, Zoro gradually grows closer tothe samurai dress code, often wearing a loose robe that’s left wide open which exposes the scar sprawled across his chest. His three swords are always attached to his hip, which gives him a pretty stern and fearsome appearance that is guaranteed to strike fear in the eyes of any enemies who dare to step up to him.

By far the biggest and most noticeable detail is the scar covering Zoro’s left eye, which has been a topic of fan theories for many years. Zoro might not have the flare or vibrancy of some of the other characters, but Oda still did an amazing job at making him seem incredibly powerful just from his design alone.

Trafalgar Law

7Trafalgar D. Law

Never Leaves The House Without His Trusty Black & White Cap

Law’s clothes of choice have changed quite a bit throughout the story, but there are a few noticeable things that he always carries with him that have become synonymous with the character. Not only is he always seen sporting a white and black spotty winter hat, even when he’s not in a cold climate, but he also carries his sword by hand which gives him a very casual and carefree look that feeds into his personality.

What is even more telling about Law though is how he almost always wears the symbol ofthe Heart Pirateson his clothing in some way, which represents just how much love he has for Bepo and the rest of his crew. By looking closely, fans will even be able to spot the tattoos on Law’s fingers, which are most noticeable when he’s using his Devil Fruit.

Urouge

6Urouge

The Most Recognizable Grin In The Series

The “Mad Monk” has a very interesting design, not only because of the tattoos covering his body, but primarily the wings attached to his back which havesparked an endless amount of theories among the fanbase, but by far the most prominent part of his appearance is that gigantic smile. Urouge can be seen smiling in nearly every single scene, but since fans learn from other characters that he is immensely powerful, it means that this could just be him anticipating the moment he can let loose.

This simple characteristic goes a very long way in building up the character and hiding his true intentions, and this isn’t even mentioning Urouge’s gigantic stature, which allows him to tower over anyone who gets close. Fans will have to wait and see if Oda adds to his design in any way when he shows up again, but he better keep that massive grin intact.

Eustass Kid

5Eustass Kid

Fiery Red Hair & Metal Arm Represents His Maliciousness

Eustass Kidis known for being the most malicious and violent member of the Worst Generation, and Oda does an incredible job of conveying this through his appearance. The fiery red spiky hair and dark motorcycle boots that he always wears give him a punkish aesthetic that resonates with his aggressive personality, and the giant metal arm makes him look especially dangerous.

The scars that are added to Kid’s body after the timeskip have also made him look a lot more like a grizzled warrior which is a great bit of visual storytelling, and while he’s not the most stylish of his peers, he still has a very memorable look that is unlike anyone else in the series.

Luffy smiling

4Luffy

The Wide Eyes & Straw Hat Grant Him The Look Of An Adventurer

Fans are pretty accustomed to Luffy’s appearance after having seen him for hundreds of episodes, but this makes it easy to forget just how captivating the little guy’s design is. The wide eyes, open shirt, and of course, the straw hat, which is permanently resting on his head, give the impression of a plucky adventurer who wants nothing more than to explore the world.

What’s especially great about Luffy’s post-timeskip design is the addition ofthe X mark on his chestleft by Akainu. Behind all the laughs and funny faces, this simple scar shows just how much Luffy has been through, and is a constant reminder of the heartbreak he experienced from losing Ace.

Capone Bege

3Capone Bege

Oozes Style & Luxury With Gold Rings, Trenchcoat, and Cigar

Capone’s gangster-inspired trench coat and top hat almost make him look like a character ripped right out of a different series, but it’s this level of style and fashion sense that makes him so recognizable and different. The golden rings, clean beard, and cigar hanging from his mouth are all very reminiscent of characters inclassic gangstermovies who try to look threatening without going over the top in their dress code.

This is the same with Capone who is always sporting the most luxurious clothing, no matter what the occasion, which hides his true intentions and powers. It’s an extremely unique design choice by Oda that no other character would be able to pull off without looking ridiculous.
