Summary

Foamstarscurrently offers eight unique characters for players to choose from, but rather than picking one at random, it can be worth researching each of them beforehand, since they all play very differently from one another. Sure, they may all have the ability to shoot out foam like there’s no tomorrow, and all come equipped with a handy slideboard to help navigate around the environment faster, but this is where the similarities end, as all the Stars also have their own unique set of weapons and abilities that grant them vastly different playstyles.

However, while there are a few Stars who area little more complex in their mechanicsand will take quite a bit of practice to fully master, there are a handful who are easy to learn, but still very effective on the battlefield. With that being said, for anyone who’s looking to jump intoPlayStation’s brand new chaotic foam-filled arena shooterand is unsure of who to start with, these are the best beginner-friendly Stars.

Rave Breaker character in Foamstars

5Rave Breaker

When It Comes To Clearing Out Enemy Foam, No One Does It Quite As Well As Rave Breaker

Rave Breaker is by far the best character in the game for destroying enemy foam, which makes her incredibly useful since she essentially acts as a countermeasure who can ensure that the opposing team doesn’t take over the entire map.Her hose weaponis incredibly easy to use and can instantly cover an entire area in foam with just a small burst, and thanks to her sneaky explosive mines, it means she can create some incredibly deadly traps for the enemy to blindly walk into, setting them up perfectly for her allies to finish off.

If things start getting a little too hectic, she’s also able to immediately jump under the foam before popping up and pushing everyone away from her, which makes it very difficult to pin her down. Her weapon is admittedly very short range, so this should always be kept in mind when engaging an enemy one-on-one, but Rave Breaker is an excellent character to pick up who manages to be incredibly powerful while still having a very straightforward game plan.

Penny Gwyn character in Foamstars

4Penny Gwyn

Penny Gwyn’s Waddlers Can Be Used For Offensive Purposes, Or To Help Out Her Allies

Although Penny Gwyn is first and foremost an assault character who can annihilate opponents with her abilities and rapid-firing assault rifle weapon, she can also double as a support thanks to her ability to create foam tracks. When the enemy starts pushing up and covering as much of the stage in foam as possible, Penny Gwyn can instantly negate this bythrowing out her Waddlerto clear out a trail for her and her allies to take advantage of. That’s not all though, as when she uses this ability, the Waddler will deal a staggering amount of damage if it makes contact with an enemy, completely wiping out their health bar and setting them up nicely for an execution.

Her ultimate attack can be great for keeping the enemy at bay, along with her barrage attack which, if used correctly, can one-shot an enemy if the player is accurate enough. Penny Gwyn is an incredibly dangerous character that players can start off using as a reliable damage dealer. Still, over time, she can also be used as a vital support character who can save her team from an otherwise sticky situation.

Agito character in Foamstars

3Agito

Agito Excels At Getting In Close, Dealing Damage, And Escaping Before Anyone Knew He Was There

Agito’s hard-hitting abilities andlethal shotgun weaponall make him a true force to be reckoned with at close range, being a hit-and-run character in every sense of the word. The best way to go about using Agito effectively is swimming around the foam by turning into a shark to initiate a flank and then popping up to surprise the enemy from behind with a barrage of shotgun blasts, which will deal a significant amount of damage if he’s close enough.

His shuriken ability is incredibly fast and can cover a large radius with its explosion, making it ideal for not only taking out small groups of enemies but also for washing away the enemy’s foam that might be highly focused on one area. Although his ultimate attack is a little situational, it’s still very easy to use considering that the shark doesn’t need to be manually controlled, so it essentially just gives the team an extra squad member to help them out in battle, which is never a bad thing.

Mel T in Foamstars

2Mel T

Mel T Can Bombard Her Opponents From A Safe Distance With Her Deadly Missile Launcher

Players who have bought the battle pass will have access to Mel T right from the get-go, and although she can seem a little intimidating at first, she’s one of the easiest characters to get the hang of, since all her attacks and abilities cover such a wide radius. Hermissile launchercan lock onto enemies if she focuses on them for long enough, but while she does have the potential to pick off single enemies, she’s unmatched when it comes to crowd control.

Both of Mel T’s abilities will cover an entire area with high-stacking foam which, if it doesn’t hit the enemy directly, will still cause them plenty of issues considering how hard it will be to traverse the map when she’s around. Her ultimate attack can also be devastating when she’s firing it from a high vantage point where she’s able to melt enemy health bars without breaking a sweat. Her missile launcher can take a little practice to use effectively since it can feel a little slow and inaccurate, but the rest of her kit is set up to make her a character that’s very easy to pick up and play.

Soa in Foamstars

1Soa

Soa’s Speed And Agility Make Her Incredibly Difficult To Pin Down

Out of all the playable characters inFoamstars, Soa is by far the most stripped back and basic in terms of her overall kit, but this isn’t to suggest that she’s any less formidable than her peers. In fact, when it comes to hit-and-run tactics, Soa is incredibly powerful thanks to herdeadly dual pistolswhich can spit out foam like there’s no tomorrow, but also because of how safe she always is thanks to her defensive abilities. Not only is she able to flip around the opponent while launching a barrage of foam at them, but she can also use her ultimate to safely roam around the map without taking any damage, which provides her with a reliable escape plan in case she ever gets surrounded.

Soa is also able to build up a mountain of foam much faster than other characters can because of her fast-firing pistols, which makes her an absolute nightmare for enemies to deal with, considering that she can slow down an entire enemy team with just a handful of shots. Soa’s agility, paired with her defensive abilities, allows her to evade death very easily while still being able to get the drop on her enemies when they’re at their most vulnerable.
