Baldur’s Gate 3made a surprise appearance at Sony’s State of Play stream, confirming a console launch, split-screen co-op, and more. Players can dive intoBaldur’s Gate 3on Mac, PC, or PS5 once it releases on August 31.

Larian Studios’ new RPG got an incredible new story trailer featuring General Ketheric Thorm, a nigh-invincible necromancer leading an army of the dead. Voiced by J. K. Simmons, this villain is one of the three main antagonists players will face alongsidetheir companions inBaldur’s Gate 3.

Luckily, players will be able to confront these villains on multiple platforms.Baldur’s Gate 3announced it would be coming to Mac, PC, and PS5 with full controller support. What’s more,Baldur’s Gate 3will also have split-screen co-op, allowing two players to play on the same device. The game will also support full cross-progression between all platforms, including Steam Deck.

The Digital Deluxe Edition forBaldur’s Gate 3was also just announced. Players who purchase the upgrade will get a digital OST, artbook, andDungeons and Dragonscharacter sheets for the origin characters ofBaldur’s Gate 3.In game, they will receive Bard songs, paintings, and special artifacts inspired by the music, world, andcharacters ofDivinity: Original Sin 2. What’s more, players who already purchasedBaldur’s Gate 3in Early Access get a free upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition.

These new digital goodies are also unlocked for any players who orderthe Collector’s Edition forBaldur’s Gate 3. Though it costs a steep $270, this treasure trove contains tons of physical collectible items including a cloth map, an art book, and an amazing statue of a mind flayer and drow battling. TheBaldur’s Gate 3Collector’s Edition will only have a limited printing, so interested players should be sure to order one soon.

Now that it has a concrete release date, players have just over six months untilBaldur’s Gate 3releases. So far, every coreDungeons and Dragonsclass except Monk is already in the game, and players can make characters of all species in thePlayer’s Handbookexcept for Half-Orc and Dragonborn. Though they didn’t appear inBaldur’s Gate 3’sfinal Early Access update, players may see these options, as well as additional subclasses, arrive for the game’s launch. Either way, withDungeons and Dragonscurrently playtestingOne D&D,Baldur’s Gate 3will have plenty of new content to draw on for future DLC–and for mods, once creative players get their hands on the full game.
