Although Ubisoft’sAssassin’s Creed: Mirageoffers a reduced scope in terms of content and size relative to previous entries in the series, there are still a number of interesting activities for players to engage with around the city of Baghdad. With a story heavily focussed on Basim’s development as a Hidden One, he will frequently need to visit the Assassin’s Bureaus located throughout the city’s several main districts.
Inside each bureau, players will notice a Contracts Board which can be interacted with in order to unlock a range of side missions. Completing these missions will give Basim the chance to unlock several valuable rewards, including a unique weapon and armor set with its own special abilities.
Rewards: 45 Components, 2 Power Favor Tokens, Rostam Sword
For this contract, players will need to head to Basra Gate and rendezvous with a rebel weapons merchant there. Given his precarious work, he is hunted by the city guards and will need Basim to escort him on his journey. Along the way, players will have to deal with several guards, many of which will be operating in plain sight of the public. Killing these guards in highly populated areas will lead to an increase in Notoriety Level, so it is best to lure them into traps in hidden locations to progress smoothly.
Upon completing the quest, the weapons dealer will reward Basim with the Rostam Sword, one of thebest weapons in the game, which has a unique ability to increase attack damage with every strike. Each consecutive attack will deal +5% damage up to a maximum of 50%, so it is definitely worth completing this contract in order to unlock this weapon.
The Satiric Poet
Rewards: 2 Scholar Favour Tokens, 45 Components, Rostam Dagger
“The Satiric Poet” is another escort-style mission in which Basimmust guard a wanted poetwho has insulted a powerful courtier with some of his work. Players can find the poet in the Soap Boilers District, located within the Quadrangle of the Persians in Harbiyah district. Upon speaking with the poet, Basim must follow him along his route through the city. Along the way, players will need to break through a wooden barrier, which can be done using a standard attack, before facing two groups of guards.
Much like in “The Weapons Dealer”, it is best to use smoke bombs and environmental cover to take out these guards stealthily, otherwise,Basim’s Notoriety levelwill increase and more guards may be alerted. Upon successfully guiding the poet to safety, he will reward Basim with the Rostam dagger, thus completing a powerful unique weapon set for the assassin.
The Marked Coins
Rewards: 2 Merchant Favor Tokens, 45 Components, 65 Dirham, Rostam Outfit
“The Marked Coins” is a slightly different type of challenge, but in order to unlock it, players will first need to have completed “The Bronze Mirror Heist” contract. This mission will require Basim to travel to a location south of the Great Mosque, once again in the Quadrangle of the Persians. Here he will meet with a member of the Hidden Ones who willchallenge him to a parkour racein order to retrieve the marked coins. Once the race is complete, Basim will need to deliver the coins to a trader in a plaza near the Great Mosque.
This contract is particularly useful as it will unlock the Rostam outfit, which ranks as one of thebest outfits in the game. The Rostam outfit is especially useful for difficult stealth missions, particularly those that involve retrieving items undetected. The outfit will reduce Basim’s movement noise by 50%.
The Traitor
Rewards: 2 Merchant Favor Tokens, 45 Components, Rostam Outfit Upgrade Schematic
“The Traitor” is a more challenging contract mission, and may require some preparation before taking it on. Players will need to infiltrate the restricted area of the Soap Boiler’s District and eliminate the patrolling guards. Next, players will need to locate the traitor, which can be done by using Eagle Vision. Having identified the target, Basim will need to lure him into a location where he can be killed using environmental damage.
The best way to achieve this is by causing a scene outside the storehouse andkilling or pacifying the guardin conversation with the target. When the target passes the nearby firepots, they can be destroyed with a throwing knife to complete the objective. Having done this, players will be rewarded with an upgrade schematic for the Rostam Outfit.
Orion’s Belt
For the “Orion’s Belt” contract, players will need to hunt down a pair of bandit ringleaders in the Qasr Salih area of Sharqiyah. In order to unlock this contract, the main story missionThe Raptor and The Demon, must first be completed. Once at the location, Basim will need to hide on the roof, which will trigger a cutscene showing the two twins arriving. Both twins are heavily guarded, and players will need to discreetly eliminate the guards before killing both twins using environmental damage.
This is best done by luring them within proximity of firepots, which can be carried and moved in order to be placed in a more convenient location. Having completed all objectives in the contract, players will be rewarded with 2 Merchant Favour Tokens, 45 Components, and the final upgrade schematic for the Rostam Outfit.
