Since the announcement ofAssassin’s Creed Infinityand the talk about it being a live service game, some gamers have expressed concerns. While some are concerned that the title could follow in thefootsteps of titles likeAnthemorMarvel’s Avengers, at least one industry insider believes there is a chance for an expected upside or two whenInfinityfinally launches.
The upcomingAssassin’s Creed Infinitywas first rumored and then confirmed by Ubisoft earlier this month. Because the game is still years away, there still isn’t a ton known about what it will eventually offer. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier can be counted among those who believeAssassin’s Creed Infinitycould eventually change the series for the better.

Schreier wrote on Twitter earlier this week that he was seeing quite a few “bad takes” about the game. He apparently believed that most of those bad takes were centered on the expectedlive service format ofInfinity. He believes that while people think the game is destined to follow in the footsteps of some live-service games that have had rather up and down histories that’s not a foregone conclusion.
The journalist believes there’s a very good chance thatAssassin’s Creed Infinitywill still have a single-playermode. In his view, there will also be some multiplayer aspects of the game, there will also be a way for players to take on the story on their own worked into the title. Schreier also believes that there is a hidden upside to making the upcoming game live-service in that Ubisoft could end up making a change that some in the fan community have been asking for over the last few years.
Schreier believes that with the ability to more easily add additional story content after the fact,Assassin’s Creed Infinity’s campaign could be smaller than the last couple. There’s a chance the developers could experiment with the story and not make it dozens of hundreds of hours long since the content can evolve.
The last threeAssassin’s Creedreleases have largely been met with critical acclaim, but they’ve also had one thing in common when it comes to criticism. The core campaigns have all been called extremely long even without the inclusion of several DLC packs for each title. Fans of the series have claimed thatAssassin’s Creed Valhallacould be the longestof the bunch and Ubisoft is still planning on releasing more story content into the next year. Schreier believes the expected live service could address those criticisms.
