Games often inspire players to create unique fan art celebrating various IP, but one artist has transformed thePlayStation 5console into a cat in a fresh take on the platform. ThePlayStation 5was released in 2020 and since then, many PS4 fans have upgraded their consoles, with some extending this beyond gaming into impressive art projects.

Because the three major consoles have their own first-party exclusives, some gamers have taken to specifically focusing on Nintendo, PlayStation, or Xbox rather than celebrating all three. Though much fan art in the gaming industry revolves aroundpopular franchises likePokemon,Elden Ring,Animal Crossing, and more, some players are dedicated to one of the three platform brands and their exclusives. For example, this PlayStation fan has taken their enthusiasm for the Sony gaming brand itself to new heights by producing a PS5 transformed to look like a cat.

Reddit user Shunixe recently shared an image of their concept of a PS5 transformed into a robotic cat which they dubbed the PurrStation 5. The aptly named cat maintains the color scheme of the PS5 console while wearing the popularwireless PlayStation Pulse headset, and it shares some potential references to popular PlayStation games likePersona 5. The overall look of Shunixe’s PurrStation 5 resembles a cute version of somethingHorizon: Forbidden Westplayers may expect while hunting in the open environments of the Guerrilla Games action RPG.

Unlike the face of the PS5 which is sandwiched between the two detachable blades, the face of Shunixe’s PurrStation 5 looks like a mix of Morgana fromPersona 5and Astro fromAstro’s Playroom. The blade aesthetic is moved toward the back of this unique fan art, covering the hip area of the PurrStation 5 which may be as easily replaced with colorful PS5 blades like the console itself. Going beyond the PlayStation 5 itself, Shunixe’s fan art also implementsthe DualSense controllerdesign by including the controller handles atop the PurrStation 5’s head, with the face buttons located on its front legs, and the triggers poking out its back on either side of its tail.

Shunixe hasn’t elaborated on whetherGuerrilla Games’Horizon: Forbidden Westor Atlus’Persona 5inspired their PurrStation 5 fan art, but they have confirmed that it took 10 hours to make using the Procreate app on an iPad. Because Shunixe has done a wide array of fan art in the past, they may revisit the transformed console concept in the future with Nintendo or Xbox.
