YouTuber The Pixel Kingdom has now created a visual representation of what it could be like if players could have Pokemon by their side throughoutAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. Rather than focusing on catching and battling Pokemon, as is the usual in mainlinePokemongames, players instead simply co-exist in aPokemon/Animal Crossingworld with the famous pocket monsters, plus the usual animal villagers.
From the get-go, players are invited to participate in the ‘Pokemon Inc. Deserted Island Package’ with theNooksreplaced by a pair of Chansey. It quickly becomes clear that Pokemon are inhabitants of the island, with groups of Krabby roaming the beaches, Butterfree appearing alongside the island’s standard catchable butterflies, and massive Pokemon like Wailmer appearing in the game’s museum. Driftloon takes over the job of carrying balloon presents. The creator even included a mock-up ofPokemon GOwithin the game.
Although, the video also makes clear that living alongside Pokemon could be problematic at times. The player falls into a Diglett hole while jumping across a river, gets squashed by Snorlax, and even fishes up a Magikarp, which one can imagine taking the place ofNew Horizon’s dreaded sea bass.
Pokemon have been cleverly incorporated into nearly all ofAnimal Crossing’s activities and locales in the imagined ‘Pokemon Crossing: Alola Horizons.’ While a game like this will likely never exist, chances arePokemonandAnimal Crossingplayers will be dreaming of what could be after seeing the video. At least the two series can still interact inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatefights.
This isn’t the first time thatAnimal Crossingplayers have mixed in thePokemonworld. Players have recreated everything from starting area Pallet Town toPokemon DiamondandPearlinNew Horizons. Though the two franchises have rarely met, it seems many fans wouldn’t mind havingPokemontie into the game in some shape or form.
Animal Crossing: New Horizonsis available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
