Sony Pictures announced the65release date is pushed up to March 10, delighting those impatient to see this futuristic prehistoric thriller. Many have suggested the change is logistical to avoid competing with the DC superhero flickShazam! Fury of the Gods, which drops on March 17 and may draw from a similar audience base. The new release date means that65will be facing off withScream VIto entice horror lovers to the side of bigger monsters.
While little was known beforethe recent65trailer premiered, sci-fi audiences and dino fans alike are excited to see what looks like an action-packed romp, complete with cool advanced human weaponry and old monsters, with spectacular effects in a strange but familiar landscape of the prehistoric world. Given their hits with theA Quiet Placefranchise, the script by Beck and Woods no doubt means a very human-centred storyline woven through the blasts and gnashing teeth. This formula may make65infinitely more compelling than a formulaic big monster blockbuster.
Audiences of all ages are always intrigued by dinosaur movies. However, this one’s promise of violence and bloodshed, as well as its R rating, may not initially rake in the same amount of money as family-friendly films like theJurassic ParkandJurassic Worldfranchiseor 2009’sLand of the Lost. The addition of a child character and an interesting premise may mean a younger audience draw when the film hits streaming services later this year.65promises fast-paced thrills and great monster effects, which will no doubt thrill dedicated sci-fi and horror fans alike.
65 is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 21, 2025.
