Microsoft has confirmed that it is going to be delisting a whopping 46 games from theXbox 360marketplace on Tuesday, February 7, and so anyone interested in purchasing the games digitally will want to make sure that they do so as soon as possible. While there are many conveniences that come with digital storefronts, there are also some unfortunate realities, withdelisted gamesone of the most frustrating aspects of digital gaming.

TheXbox 360originally launched in 2005, yet its digital marketplace is still active today. There aren’t any new Xbox 360 games being released on the platform’s marketplace, but gamers still have the opportunity to purchase games from it. Unfortunately for those still gaming on Xbox 360, 46 games will soon be unavailable to purchase from the Xbox 360 marketplace.

The 46 games being delisted from the Xbox 360 marketplace include multipleAssassin’s Creedgames, twoCall of Dutytitles, the originalDark Souls, bothLeft 4 Deadgames,Mass Effect 2,Splinter Cell Conviction, and many others. The original Xbox gameStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 - The Sith Lordsis also being delisted from the Xbox 360 marketplace come February 7. Now, the good news is that none of these games are being removed from the Xbox One or Xbox Series X marketplaces, so any of these titles that arebackward compatiblewill still be available to purchase.

Xbox 360 Games Being Delisted

Something else that’s softening the blow of this delisting quite a bit is the fact that many of these games have newer, enhanced versions readily available on modern hardware. Ubisoft has remastered and re-released theAssassin’s Creedgames that are getting the boot, and there’s also anewer version ofSouth Park: The Stick of Truthfor fans to play as well. So in the grand scheme of things, these Xbox 360 games that are being delisted will not impact that many gamers.

However, there are some games listed here that are not available to play on modern Xbox consoles through backward compatibility or are otherwise unavailable on the newer marketplaces. This means that gamers will definitely want to purchase those titles through the Xbox 360 marketplace while they’re still available. Pure Xbox has put together a list of games that are no longer going to be available in digital form on Xbox at all once the delisting happens:Blood of the Werewolf,Counter-Strike: GO,Daytona USA,Defense Grid,Eets: Chowdown,Final Fight: Double Impact,Iron Brigade,Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad,Jet Set Radio,Left 4 Dead,Left 4 Dead 2,Mutant Blobs Attack,Prince of Persia,R.U.S.E.,Sega Vintage Collection: Alex Kidd & Co.,Skate 2,Spelunky, andValve’s excellentThe Orange Boxare the impacted titles.

Even after the games are delisted, anyone that owns these titles will be able to re-download them as much as they like, so Xbox gamers shouldn’t feel pressured to keep the titles installed on theirhard drives.
